English Vibes at Westdale Heights

This gorgeous home located in the Mid-City area of Baton Rouge had lots of potential, but was in need of some remodeling of its closed floor plan. The space was oddly angular and was not conducive to the owner’s wants or needs as a family of four with young children. The home had a lot of unique elements that the owners wanted to incorporate into the new design such as the beautiful original paneling on the walls in the living room, the pre-existing bar, and the breakfast rotunda area connected to the kitchen. To open up the space we pushed the kitchen wall back to an exterior wall of the house, eliminating the original powder room, which allowed us to add a window over the sink as a source of natural lighting. After opening the space we could then add a large island with fine Quartzite countertops that provides lots of preparation space and plenty of seating for the whole family. The original utility room footprint was rather large, and we used some of that space to add back in a smaller powder room and additionally a pantry. New flooring was put down throughout the home to maintain a seamless flow throughout the different rooms. The space was finished off with sleek matte gold hardware and lighting fixtures and new stainless steel appliances, creating the space that the home owners had been dreaming of.
