Designing For Timelessness: A Look At Zsa Zsa Gabor’s Palm Springs Bathroom With Richard Ourso.

I am thrilled to have been featured in the recent InRegister article on the bathroom in Zsa Zsa Gabor’s Palm Springs home. As the founder and lead designer of Ourso Designs, I was honored to share my thoughts and insights on the design of this iconic space.

Zsa Zsa Gabor was a Hungarian-American actress and socialite who was known for her glamorous lifestyle and distinctive personality. Her Palm Springs home is an iconic example of mid-century modern design, a style that has had a significant influence on interior designers, architects, and space planners.

One of the elements I commented on in the bathroom was the retro wallpaper, which is making a comeback today. The design helps balance some of the newer elements in the space while maintaining authenticity. The wall-to-wall mirrors and the addition of a framed mirror on top of the mirrored cabinet doors were also notable design features.

I also appreciated the use of deco-mold on the cabinet doors, a technique that was popular in the past and adds a decorative detail to the flush face of the doors. The floor-to-ceiling window in the bathroom was a standout feature, bringing the outside in and creating a soothing and inviting atmosphere.

As designers and architects, we look to iconic spaces like Zsa Zsa Gabor’s home for inspiration and guidance in our work. By studying and analyzing these spaces, we can learn new techniques and approaches that we can apply to our own projects. Zsa Zsa Gabor’s Palm Springs home serves as a testament to the enduring power of good design and the impact it can have on our lives.

I want to extend my gratitude to the team at InRegister for including me in their article and for giving me the opportunity to share my insights on this remarkable space. It’s an honor to be recognized for my insight and to be able to share my passion for design with others.

Sincerely,

Richard
